English is very useful part of our life. Without use of correct grammar, the weightage of English Language is very less.

It doesn’t matter what the origin of a word or phrase is, what matters is what people understand when you speak to them. And the evidence is clear: everyone who ever uses the phrase “begs the question” intends the meaning of “raises the question”. The first person who ever did that was making a mistake. The second person who did that was just communicating.

You may as well argue that people shouldn’t say “you” when they are talking to a single person, and should instead say “thou”, because that’s the correct singular.

It is SO FAR away from the original and traditional usage and, generally, shows a decline in language to communicate complex arguments and philosophies.

Isn’t the real purpose of a language is to communicate? If so, then the “correct usage” takes a backseat when the “wrong” usage becomes “common usage” – and serves to communicate.

Besides, who decides what correct usage, anyway?

Sorry, Grammar Girl, you didn’t loose the cause; you just joined the rest of them.
